The greyscale continues...

Life drawings of a 3 hr and a 40 min pose. I'm hoping our class will go over how to approach color soon.

Why I've been busy lately...

I'm not yet happy with the textures and haven't been able to add everything I wanted to, but I think I did okay considering the time I had to do it in. I'll probably go back and fix all the things that are bugging me, but for now I'm going to go to sleep lol.

The original concept was provided for me and can be found here.

Another practice sketch...

Wanted to do more digital paintings from life but stayed home sick all week so I did this from an online photo instead.

Click to view larger, the thumbnail image is all blurry for some reason.

First Sketch

Taking a break from 3D with a class taught by the super talented Jason Juan. I'm really excited. It seems like it'll be a photoshop class with more of a focus on traditional painting skills, which is exactly what I've been looking for. His approach seems to be the total opposite of what I've learned so far, so it should be a really interesting class :) .

Above image was a quick sketch done in Photoshop using brushes that he developed.

Still Truckin'

Here are a couple of sketches done last week. Still trying to decide if this should be a daily thing or every other day, etc... The plan however is to have something new and post at least once a week.

Who the sculpts the week before last were. Congrats to Eric for guessing Samuel L Jackson right, I thought he was one of the ones that looked the least like the ref hehe.

I need more practice capturing likeness, but I'll keep working on it. If anyone wants to try guessing the new sculpts: one you would only know if your into animation and the other is associated with Philadelphia :) .

Daily Practice

This week I tried doing one quick sculpt a day. I definately need more practice, but I feel like I'm slowly improving :) . My goal is to eventually be able to do these in under an hour.

A cookie to anyone whose able to identify who any of the sculpts are. They're all actors, but some of them are pretty obscure.

Real life Zbrush

Hes about 10 inches tall and made of water based clay. It was fun getting my hands dirty sculpting again :) . I'll find out if he survives the kiln in a couple of weeks.

Texture Progress

Worked more on the texture today, I think I'm almost ready to move on to the spec and gloss maps?

Forgot to post this earlier...

Here's some more WIP shots. Low poly model came in at around 5,617 tris, which I think is pretty good since my budget was 11,000 tris (I might go back and add some more in, but we'll see).

Some non-black mage posts coming soon :) .

Not too much more to post...

...Been mostly working on the low poly model and unwrapping so I don't have anything too exciting to post :P . Last week I added hair to him, I still have a couple more things to ZBrush but I want to finish unwrapping before I get back to it.

Black Mage

Working on a redesign of Final Fantasy's Black Mage. This character was my first time working with 3DsMax, which was actually pretty fun to model in once I got used to it :) .
